The Love Locks of Mexico City

Greetings Lovelies,

On our recent trip to Mexico City, my partner and I stayed in the heart of Roma Norte. We adored the area! We were located in a building called "Casa de la Brujas" (House of the Witches), across the street from Plaza Rio de Janeiro; a small, but beautiful lively park with lots of activities on the weekends.

Saint Peter

Saint Peter’s Feast Day is June 29th. His day of the week is Tuesday. His emblem is two crossed keys. His candle colors are red & white.

He may be petitioned for success in any endeavor, removing obstacles, better business, strength & courage, forgiveness of hurts, good luck & fortune, and miracles of compassion.

Many people also petition Saint Peter for success in artistic ventures as well as overcoming addictions. He also acts to resolve conflicts and dish out justice in moral matters.

Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph's day of the week is Sunday or Wednesday. His emblem is a pitcher and loaf of bread or a lily. His colors are yellow, green and brown. When Working with Saint Joseph the Worker, he must always be pictured holding the infant Jesus.

Saint Anne

In the East, she is celebrated on the Sunday before the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, September 8th.

Her day of the week is Monday & her primary color is white, although many associate yellow and green with her as well.

Saint Philomena

Saint Philomena’s candle color is green, pink or light blue. Her offerings include sweet cakes, pink cakes, pink lemonade, candies, sweet drinks, colas, toys, red and white braided ropes, pink flowers (lots & lots of flowers!), lilies, perfumes (especially anais anais perfume), make-up, pastel silks, glitter, rosaries, pastel-colored jewelry, marshmallows and French pastries.

Her emblems are anchors, palms, lilies, and arrows. Her day of the week is Saturday.

Her cult has survived for many years and she is believed to have the largest amount of miracles ascribed to her

Saint Jude

Saint Jude’s Day of the week is Sunday, his emblem is a medal & a staff, his colors are green, red and white.

He prefers offerings of small items either one at a time or in groups of three. It is said that St. Jude's favorite offerings are water, candles, incense, coins, and flowers.

Many say he prefers pennies (a shiny new one is best) and that he rarely ever takes food or drink other than water.

He is the bringer of miracles, the patron of hopeless cases and desperate situations, and known to be a promt provider of blessings and assistance!

Saint Martin of Porres

Saint Martin of Porres is the patron Saint of African-Americans, bi-racial people, barbers, hairdressers, race relations, social justice, employees of animal shelters, housekeepers, veterinarians, the poor, Peru, innkeepers, public education, public health, fundraisers and charitable organizations or projects.

Saint Martin was a vegetarian. His symbols are the broom and crucifix. His colors are purple & white. His day of the week is Thursday.

Saint Martin of Tours

There are two Saint Martins: the recently canonized Saint Martin de Porres and the older Saint Martin of Tours. The latter is known in Latin America as San Martin Caballero, "Saint Martin the Horse-rider”, and he is the one most frequently encountered in good luck charms.

Saint Martin of Tours, or Saint Martin of Caballero, has his day of the week on Tuesday. His emblem is a horse, a sword, a goose and a torn cape. His colors are red and white.

Basic Spell Casting Steps for Candle Magick

These steps are coming from a Universalist perspective. Your steps can be used with or without any kind of religion, Spiritual practice or belief system. It's important to do what feels right for you.

Saint Joseph

His day of the week is Sunday or Wednesday. His emblem is a pitcher and loaf of bread or a lily. His colors are yellow, green and brown. When Working with Saint Joseph the Worker, he must always be pictured holding the infant Jesus.

In dedication to Saint Joseph, it is traditional to give alms to the poor, raise money for charities, give food to the underprivileged, or to share blessings with those in need. Building an Altar on his feast day is meant to be an act of devotion to Saint Joseph which is also beneficial for the community, not simply for personal gain.

Saint Expedite

Saint Expedite is the Patron Saint of the Republic of Molossia. He is also the patron of emergencies and solutions to those emergencies. He is traditionally depicted as a Roman soldier, holding a palm leaf in his left hand, and raising a cross with the word "Hodie" (today) on it. His right foot is stepping on a raven, which is speaking the word "Cras" (tomorrow).
