Basic Spell Casting Steps for Candle Magick

These steps are coming from a Universalist perspective. Your steps can be used with or without any kind of religion, Spiritual practice or belief system. It's important to do what feels right for you.

❤ Set your candle up wherever you want. A formal Altar is not needed.
❤ If so desired, you can surround your candle with symbolism to enhance your spell & mirror your intentions. Some ideas include: collages, stones, crystals, flowers, herbs, colors, artwork.
❤ When everything is set up, speak your intention out loud. Speak it in the present tense, as if you have already attained your goal.
❤ Light your candle while you state your intention.
❤ Use one of the following methods which resonate with you: prayer, chanting, meditation, visualization, energy work, affirmations, or a combination of any of these. You can also just talk aloud about what you are seeking. You can even sing or play an instrument if you feel so called to!
❤ Sit with the candle until it is fully extinguished & focus on your intentions. You can focus using visualization, repeating your intentions in your mind or out loud, or concentrating on the feelings you will have when your goal is achieved. Whatever comes most natural to you is best. Remember, don't worry about the "HOW" - leave yourself open to surprises & just focus on the end result or end feeling you want to have.
❤ If you would like to extend the energy of your spell, it is often advisable to draw it out for a number of days rather than completing it all within one day. Consider burning your candle for a few moments each morning or night rather than extinguishing it one sitting. 

❤ When complete, express gratitude in some way. You can thank the spirit of the flame, you can be grateful for the candle itself, or you can thank a higher power if you have one. 

❤ Leave a small offering if you feel so inclined. This can be a flower left in nature, it can be a glass of water on your Altar or table, it can be burning incense, it can be a donation of some sort, but find a way to give something back for the energy you are receiving. This can truly be anything you feel drawn to.

❤ Now have faith that your spell is going to work. Your intentions and your belief in the spell are the two most important ingredients.
