Divination & Psychic Work

Lately I've had a lot of discussions about my divination services. It's an interesting topic for many reasons and it tends to be a very personal practice. The reason it is so personal is because it has to do with spiritual gifts bestowed. The way that these kind of things manifest are unique to each individual. In kind, the way that these talents are expressed also vary from person to person. This variation is in part due to the personality of the practitioner, their philosophies & education, and in part due to the very nature of the gift itself. Some of this we are not able to choose. For instance, I get messages in different ways all the time, sometimes when I am least expecting it information pops into my head, or I see a sign in nature or have a dream full of symbols and I just KNOW what it is pertaining to. That is why I also offer an open-ended divination service which would allow me to receive information based on where intuition leads me
Now, just like any of our spiritual gifts, everyone has the potential for this kind of talent and it is the kind of thing that can be developed. In fact, it is highly recommended to train yourself to control and use these skills, especially if you have a strong, natural propensity. Although sometimes Spirit speaks to me spontaneously, I can also choose how to focus and receive information. I have spent years training myself. This is like any other skill, the more you practice the better you get. There are various techniques I could use; such as trance meditation, fire or water scrying, or just plain prayer. The key is to be in the proper state of mind in the first place and to already have a basic understanding of how your intuition, your gifts, and your messages from Spirit work.

Now, we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, so let's define a couple of key terms before we move on.

Divination: the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.

Psychic: relating to or denoting faculties or phenomena that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, esp. involving telepathy or clairvoyance.

Clairvoyant: having or exhibiting a supernatural ability to perceive events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact.

Mediumship: While some people consider all communication with spirits as mediumship, it is traditionally defined by channeling a spirit through one's body in a state of trance mediumship. These methods often overlap, however, divination services and psychic readings can be distinguished from work as a medium.

Scrying: foretelling or psychic work using a crystal ball, flame or other reflective surfaces as a tool for entering a trance or meditative state.

The Higher Self: the part of you which is connected to the collective unconscious and the Divine.

Spirit: Divinity, the Divine.

spirits: those who are now beyond the physical plane of existence, but were once here.

* Please note: I mention these last three definitions because they are the sources of information, messages, wisdom & guidance received during divination or psychic readings. It is worth noting that a practitioner may not always be aware of the exact origin of information, and that is perfectly fine. We don't always have to know everything, we just have to have faith & know how Spirit speaks to us.

Now that you've read through those definitions pertaining to psychic work you can see how limited they can be! Moreover, how muddled it can become to define methods. For instance, I recently changed my divination listing to include the term "psychic reading" because the messages I receive from Spirit do not pertain only to the future. You're starting to get the idea.... these definitions can be tricky!
Let's get specific now that we've been over the basics. Following is some information about my work with candle readings. Wax readings have been used since ancient times in traditions such as Judaism, however what I do pertains more to the candle itself. I'm particularly drawn to candle work and the fire element in general. I find the flame a useful tool to focus my energy and guide me to spiritual messages. My readings don't have much to do with how the wax burns, but more with the messages and information I receive through meditating on the flame. This is called fire scrying. Additionally I interpret the symbols & images that I see in the melted wax once the candle has burned down.....and I have seen some clear messages there! I typically get pretty great results with this kind of reading and have had positive feedback from clients.

I use complex systems to do my work, especially my psychic & divination work. It requires rituals of purification, meditation & prayer. I get into a trance-like state for this which takes preparation & energy. This is why practitioners do not typically do psychic work on demand, at the drop of a hat. This work requires that you are in the right frame of mind. Being in the right frame of mind means different things for different people, and once the methods are very practiced, getting in tune becomes easier and easier. This is how spiritual work happens. Although information can come spontaneously, as I mentioned earlier, serious, intentional work requires a deep spiritual state. That is the advantage of training yourself, you can choose how and when you would like to go deeper into your gifts, and you learn how to get the most out of them!
